Hi folks

MACCA is very proud and excited to announce the commencement of a project that will be both innovative and unique to this area.

DsD Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership and Omagh District Council will fund an Eco-Centre in our Community Garden. The building will be situated on the green area and will provide facilities for education, gardening, seminars, children's parties and a Saturday morning market for locally produced food, crafts and garden wares.

The building itself will be built with energy efficient materials and will incorporate many features such as solar panels, recycled rubber roof tiles and special glass to turn sunlight into heat. The walls will be built with hempcrete, a natural substance, which acts as both a conductor and a radiator of heat to such an extent that no formal heating system need be installed.

We hope that the public will become involved with this exciting project.

The design team has been appointed and it is hoped that building will commence in the spring with a completion date of September/October.

There will be open days for the public to view the building process during the project build and a facebook page will be used to give daily updates and photographs.
